ThreadHoney X DMC

I am beyond excited to announce my newest collaboration with DMC Commonthread! I have always associated DMC with the finest quality threads and I own over 200 beautifully dyed embroidery flosses from them.

Since October I have been working on 10 different embroidery patterns that are now available for purchase at commonthread.us. The BEST part is that you can purchase the patterns individually or you can make it into a kit by purchasing all the necessary embroidery flosses, needles, transfer pens, etc! The designs are a mixture of all the things I love - from carousel horses and sunsets to tiger faces and cherries.

This tiger face would be purr-fect on a jean jacket!

Sunday's on the Phone to Monday - Giveaway!

IMG_8513 (1).JPG

My summers as a child consisted of two things: homemade sno cones and reading books. While not every childhood tradition transfers once you leave high school, I can proudly say that these two things remain a staple for me every summer. On my reading list this year was a beautifully tragic book from the talented author Christine Reilly named "Sunday's on the phone to Monday."

"The Middlesteins meets The Virgin Suicides in this arresting family love story about the eccentric yet tightknit Simone family, coping with tragedy during 90s New York, struggling to reconnect with each other and heal."

I was given the opportunity from Christine to read the book and was instantly swept into the illuminating world of a family struggling to find themselves both personally and together, and I was left reflecting on my own family and the sacrifices we make for the ones that we love.

I chose a quote from the book that resonated with me and will be hosting an INSTAGRAM GIVEAWAY starting today! The winner will receive both the completed Threadhoney hoop that reads, "She gave him all the tools he needed to hurt her, and he did the same. Wasn't that the logic in love?" and a copy of the book, "Sunday's on the Phone to Monday." Check out my Instagram @threadhoney for more info and a chance to win!

The giveaway starts today and will run for 48 hours. The winner will be announced this Wednesday (July 13th).

Good luck!

Threadhoney x Studio DIY: Free Interactive Birthday Cards

I've teamed up with Studio DIY again to bring you more free printables (hooray!), this time in the form of interactive birthday cards! Whether you print them for kids or your personal inner child, these cards are a blast.

As a bonus, Studio DIY has teamed up with the non-profit organization Do Something  on a project that where you can make and mail a birthday card to a homeless child who is spending their birthday in a shelter. I love that the cards I designed can bring a smile to a face of someone in need.

Embroidery Cakes: A collab with Alana Jones-Mann

I've always thought my designs were cute enough to eat, but this is just next-level.

The lovely stylist and designer, Alana Jones-Mann, has used a couple different Threadhoney embroidery hoop designs as inspiration for her latest tutorial on her blog. Click here to see the post!

I'm such a huge fan of the beautiful work that Alana does with with customized desserts and you can see her passion come through with everything that she bakes. Plus, I love that in her tutorials she explains things so well that even someone who is as disaster-prone in the kitchen as I am can feel pretty confident when reading the directions!

Thank you again Alana for bringing these hoops to life, they perfectly bring out the stitching and painting techniques that I used when making the embroidery pieces. To see more of Alana's work, visit her website at alanajonesmann.com and follow her on Instagram @alanajonesmann for some serious eye candy.

Now if you need me, I'll be salivating over these sweet treats:
